Our Mission
Renewing Hope is a Minnesota Nonprofit with a simple mission: we help people suffering with addiction, homelessness, mental health disorders, and family crisis to access critical resources like food, medical care, and housing. We believe that every human being deserves an opportunity to recover from substance use disorder—regardless of background or resources.
Among a myriad of important support services, the following are some of the ways that Renewing Hope assists underserved communities:
Transportation to medical, dental, and mental health appointments and services
Financial assistance to obtain ID, birth records, and other critical items needed to access employment and other resources
Meals
Assistance with suitable clothing for employment reentry
Financial assistance for out-of-pocket medical and dental expenses
Peer support services and coaching
Transportation assistance for family visits and reunification with children
Provision of naloxone, a medical intervention which can reverse the effects of opioid overdose, to transitional living facilities and at-risk communities
Hosting community activities, such as sober softball, bowling, and movie outings
Employment support services, including placement, resume/interview training and support
Transportation to church services, recovery meetings, and other community events
Real Need, Real Impact
Renewing Hope provides direct assistance to individuals who are experiencing homelessness and addiction. By providing for the critical needs of individuals in addiction treatment programs, your donation helps provide access to recovery services for people with an immediate need. An estimated 550,000 people are homeless in the United States on any given night, and more than 100,000 die from substance overdoses annually. Renewing Hope aims to help the less fortunate and do our part to combat this crisis.
How We Do Our Part
Many housing programs in the Twin Cities for people in addiction recovery programs offer great support and contribute to objectively better recovery outcomes. However, for people with limited or no resources, access to these programs can be difficult or impossible, and things like food insecurity and inability to access critical services can be a roadblock. We provide a hand up so that people from all walks of life have chance to beat addiction and author new chapters.
Life-Changing Support
Your life-changing donation goes to assist those striving for recovery. Meals. Transportation to treatment programs. Medical and dental care. Naloxone, a medical intervention which can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Many people in early recovery do not even have an ID or birth certificate - we help provide them resources to stabilize their lives and improve futures. Your support helps secure a safe, healthy path for people in crisis.
Helping others find solid ground
One of the largest peer-reviewed studies on sober living environments indicates that people with access to community-based, high-quality sober housing experienced significantly improved outcomes as measured by sobriety after 6, 12, and 18 months. The NHI Study also found that people with access to quality sober living environments experienced better recovery outcomes even after leaving community-based housing for 18 months. Per this research, for people in supportive sober living environments, “Improvements were noted in alcohol and drug use, arrests, psychiatric symptoms and employment.”
